FAQs - Wardrobes Installation
Installation of your wall fillets and plinth.
Wall fillets and plinth consist of MFC batons, 87 mm x 18 mm x 2650 mm. These are to pack away from the skirting and floor to allow you to "square" your opening to receive your sliding wardrobe doors.
1. Fitting the wall fillets
You can either remove the skirting or butt up to it if required and suitable. Fix your wall fillet and pack it if necessary with the screws and plugs provided. Then cover your screw heads with the cover caps to suit the finish of your wall fillets. You can then measure and fit your floor fillet in a similar fashion. We recommend the inclusion of a floor fillet to the floor rather than on top of the carpet. If you have carpet we recommend that you cut the carpet and fit back up to the floor fillet which is now fixed to the floor. The minimum depth we suggest of the external wardrobe is 600 mm.
2. Fitting the top tracks
Cut your top track 2 mm short of the opening to allow a tolerance and fix with cavity plugs to the ceiling. There is no need to fix to the rafters or fix noggings as the top track is only holding its own weight.
3. Fitting the bottom track
Cut your floor track 2 mm short to allow a tolerance, then we suggest you lift a door in and fix it to the tracks, then "plumb" your door in prior to fixing the bottom track finally using the screws provided.
4. Fitting the wardrobe doors
Lift the remaining wardrobe doors in making sure the anti jump device is engaged, then slide the relevant door to its "jamb" (fillet) and adjust the door to suit. We recommend that the front door is set nearest to the entrance of the room, but the choice is yours.
End panel installation
An end panel provides a "new wall" should you not wish or be able to go wall to wall. It consists of a 18 mm x 2650 mm x 600 mm MFC board to complement the wardrobe doors of your choice. To fix the end panel we suggest that you not only measure the floor to ceiling height but double check with a level that the opening is square.
Remove and refit the skirting to allow the end panel to fit to the wall or scribe around the skirting board. Fix the end panel with fixing blocks or if your wall is wobbly we can provide an end panel U channel to ease installation.
